Temptation Free

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERATemptation Free! What a nice thought. The question is how to get there. Alas I must say there isn’t, pardon my language here but – bummer. According to 1 Corinthian 10:13 TLB “But remember this – the wrong desires [temptations] that come into your life aren’t anything new and different. Many others have faced exactly the same problems before you.”
You would think there would be some height of spiritual maturity that gets us out of it.  However considering Jesus was tempted, I would say we don’t get a break there either. Hebrews 4:15 “This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses since he had the same temptations we do, though he never once gave way to them and sinned.”
It’s attributed to Rick Warren the statement that “since God intends to make us like Jesus he will take you through the same experiences Jesus went through, that includes loneliness, temptation, stress, criticism, rejection and a lot of other problems.”  Often we admire Jesus, how he defeated Satan, outwitted the Pharisees and Sadducees, his great wisdom, the power and authority he walked in, the relationship he had with God and Holy Spirit, and then lightly glaze over the temptations, sacrifices and sufferings that contributed to who He was.

Unconditional Love

Orange HibI am the God of the universe; I am sovereign in all my ways. I can be trusted and depended on. I’m true to my word. I have not and will not fail you or leave you. My Son gave his all for you; I allowed this because of my great love for you. If I allowed Him to go through what he did, surely I would not abandon you now. There is nowhere you can go that I am not, no action I will not forgive for those who come with an open repentant heart and yielded spirit. My desire is to be with you now and in eternity, to pour out my love on you, show you my good                                               plans and have a personal intimate relationship with you.

Calling

Rock StepsHold on, I’m calling you. Are you ready? I sense an excitement within you, a longing, a desire, all for Me. When you’re ready to step out from where you are there is more than you have imagined waiting and I’ll be there to go with you into the new adventures of life, whether it be in your own neighborhood or beyond. It just takes a willing heart and feet. You won’t regret saying yes, granted it may not be all thrills and easy, but will be worth it. You were meant for more than an ordinary life, the more comes when you join in co-labor with Me. Doors and windows will open you have not seen before, divine encounters and opportunities await you. Trust me, take my hand, let’s begin – one step, one yes, at a time.

Adornments

Peacock Blue - onlineI am your covering, don’t leave home without Me. Wrap yourself in My grace, My love, My peace. Wear them as adornments; they are as a crown of jewels upon your head; signs of your royal priesthood. A mark of one being in My presence. Let the fragrance of heaven permeate you, then emanate out filling the nostrils of those who draw near. You may be the only touch of heaven some feel in this day. Do not be afraid to shine in the dimly lit places you may find yourself, you carry the hope others are looking for, let Me be seen through you that they may find Me.

Mending

Mending - onlineThere is life beyond the hurt and pain, broken trusts and torn hearts. Each one is mended with love by the, Great Mender, who meticulously and carefully mends each one as we offer them to Him, then release our grip – leaving them in His hands.

Look Up

Bengal Cat in the SunWhy do you worry about the small things? Don’t you know I’ve got them, they are in My hand? Look beyond them to the bigger picture; what do you see there? Do you see Me, see My plans, see what I have for you? There is so much more to see when you look up. I have not told you to cast all your cares on Me for no reason, they weigh you down, keep you hunched over so you do not see what I have ahead for you. You are lost in the small stuff which bogs you down. There is more, there is light at the end of the tunnel, there is hope. Where you are now is not where you will always be once you look up, see Me, and let me guide you through and beyond your current situation.

Write the Dream!

scroll and penWrite it, write it big, don’t let it out of your sight,  keep the vision clear. Voice it, let it take life. Don’t hide the dream under a basket, don’t put it into the back of the closet , bring it out into the light. Life and dreams flourish in the Light. Let faith and hope arise once more, don’t let fear crowd it out, or shame throw a blanket over it, hold them up to Me. Let Me breathe life into them. Hold tight to the desires of your heart, don’t let them slip through your fingers. Don’t let the logical and reasonable steal your unfettered childlike faith that all things are possible in Me.

Beloved Child

light in windowMy child. I call you my child because you are, you are one I tenderly watch over , caring about your every need, nurturing you, teaching and guiding you. I know you intimately,  better than you know yourself. I watch over you knowing every tear you shed, being right there with you in all the joys and sorrows in life. I listen to each prayer, the spoken and of the heart. I know your  failures and love you just the same. I know your deepest desires and search of me. My precious child know I am here with you, I am for you, desiring the best for my beloved  child. The best is not always as you plan, I hope you will trust me in all situations, even when it takes a leap of faith to do so. I love you, I always have and always will, you are special to my heart, one I take delight in. Rest in, me, cast all your cares upon me for I care about you. I am your good Father, you are my precious and beloved child.

Be Still II

You are my chigod-rays-onlineld, do not be anxious, I am right here, rest in me. Come away with me, let the current cares be set aside for a little while so you can listen to me. Let your spirit be still, trust in me and lean not on your own understanding. Remember, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; the answers you seek are only found in me. Seek me to find them , be patient for the coming answer. Abide in me, abide in my peace. Striving is counterproductive, it stirs you up causing restlessness. Be still, be quiet and focus on me. Breakthrough will come, it will burst forth as the rising sun at the dawning of a new day. I am the Light dispelling the dark , illuminating the truth, showing the way.

March On

Baby Elephant walkingDoes anyone have some mornings like me where you just want to stay snuggled under the warm covers; where your toes dread the touch of cold wood floors?
For me, today was one of those days; it’s been a long hard week, the body is having some aches and pains, and my flesh protested the thought of rising this Sunday morning. My mind begins to rationalize and make excuses for not crawling out from under the covers: it’s okay if I skip service today – after all I’m there most of the time, no one will miss me, I deserve a day off, I can catch a sermon on TV, and the list grows. Despite all this, I toss back the covers making the decision that although the flesh protests – I will rise and march on into the day.
Super Saint I ain’t. Some days it truly is a sacrifice to offer up praises, to read my Bible, to meditate, to pray for others instead of only focusing on my little world of needs. At such times I find myself borrowing words and attitudes of David, Paul and other saints of old to encourage myself to march on. They never said we would always feel like doing what we should, sometimes it requires effort and commitment to continue on and follow through. We read such words as: David strengthened himself in the Lord, I press toward, I strain to reach, I bring a sacrifice of praise.
