Wait Expectantly

Rita - church topWhat do you wait for, is it Me? Those who wait on Me do not wait in vain. How long will you wait to hear Me or see the move of My hand? You do not wait in vain; wait with an expectancy, full of faith unwavering, and you shall surely see My glory.

Take Me

It’s a new day and I’m right here, don’t leave Me on the shelf as you walk out the door; I’ll do you no good left there. Let’s do this day together, I’ve got great plans. Ready?

In The Storms

Storms come in many forms; what is a storm for one may be a rainy day for another and vice versa. But storms…they do come.
When it’s dark with the winds of adversities howling and beating against us – fear nips at our heals trying to shake our foundation. When we feel we can barely stand another moment there seems to be a still small voice saying “My little one, listen to the sound of My voice, I will safely guide you through”. In that moment a glimmer of hope begins to dawn, casting a glance heavenward in surrender we tune our ears to hear more; tenderly He says “Come, My child, come closer, let Me hold you and comfort your distressed heart. My peace I give to you, don’t let circumstances rattle you; I have promised to always be with you in the good and difficult times. There is nothing you can’t handle when you are holding My hand”. Though storms continue to rage around a peace warms us, starting from within, as we hold onto His words.
When we gain our bearing one might ask, Lord, why did you not speak sooner when I was trying so hard to hear you? He gently replies “Why do you strive so hard in your mind – by your will, to hear Me, listen and hear with your heart. A cluttered mind has difficulty hearing, as does a spirit in unrest. Let My peace fill you, in the quiet place you can hear Me better”.   When we try to make the Lord speak by an act of our will we become anxious and at unrest.
When we consider King David, a mighty warrior, he never said he was unafraid but that “Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God (I will praise His word), In God I have put my trust; I will not fear…” Ps 56:3-4. We need to consider what we are thinking about, are we thinking and speaking in fear or faith. Is our words lining up with His words. Is our mind dwelling on all the past victories and times the Lord has seen us through hard situations or, are we listening to peoples horror stories and dwelling on worst case scenarios instead of praying in faith, and for grace to see us through. Many burdens are too heavy to carry alone, we are invited to “give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall” Ps 55:22.
I pray that when the storms rage that, like Jesus, we will be filled with peace and can rest in the tossing boat, secure and confident in our heavenly Father to see us through; that our ears will be open to hear His still small voice; his words of comfort, encouragement, hope, and promises. And, in faith, say to the storm – peace be still.

Honor

Souza flower 4Give honor where it is do; when you honor the one I have put into a position of honor, you honor Me in my decisions and sovereignty. You may not always agree, honor them anyway knowing My ways are higher than your ways, and My thoughts higher than your thoughts.

Listen

Hold My Hand

Lizard BuddiesCome My child, come closer, let Me hold you and comfort your distressed heart. My peace I give to you, don’t let circumstances rattle you, I have promised to always be with you in the good and difficult times. There is nothing you can’t handle when you are holding My hand.

Want to Hear

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERADo you really want to hear from Me? There is a cost to such intimacy, an openness – openness brings vulnerability, some consider vulnerability to be a weakness; the world teaches that weakness is an undesirable character flaw. In My value system, in your weakness My strength can be seen, your vulnerability allows me to come in, your openness lets Me use you as I desire, in the place of intimacy you hear the sound of My voice and know Me – it changes who you are. Do you really want to hear Me?

Easter’s In The Bible!

FB95IMG951441722821172_resizedI have a headache, too much reading me thinks. I had thought of writing how Easter or Resurrection Sunday fell this year on April 1st, April Fool’s Day, but that what Jesus did on the cross was no joke. I wanted to give perspective of how Easter itself came to be, so I googled “what does Easter mean”, to my surprise the first answer given was “the most important and oldest festival of the Christian Church, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ”; Well, that is not what I expected, I was expecting bunnies, eggs, a pagan fertility goddess, etc. Then I was further surprised to find “Easter” is in the Bible, in the King James version to be exact,  Acts 12:4 “…intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people”, speaking of Peter. I might have thought the word to be in more modern versions, not King James. I looked at a variety of translations including the New King James Version; they all used the word “Passover” instead of Easter; Easter may be found in other translations, just not the ones I looked at. I started looking into the pagan origins of the bunny and other customs associated with Easter but didn’t want to get too far off the topic of Jesus. Jesus is the reason we acknowledge Resurrection Sunday, after all He is the one who died and was resurrected, not the bunny.
When getting into Christ’s death and resurrection Romans 6:3-5 AMP tells us, “…the fact that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? We have therefore been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory and power of the Father, we too might walk habitually in newness of life [abandoning our old ways]. For if we have become one with Him [permanently united] in the likeness of His death, we will also certainly be [one with Him and share fully] in the likeness of His resurrection”. To me it sounds like we have something to celebrate every day, the great hope we have in our new life in Jesus.
Yes, there are pagan influences tied with some Easter traditions; how we observe the day, as with all things, is best covered in prayer and led by the Lord. We need to be careful not to throw the baby out with the dirty bath water. Let’s consider the opportunity we have to share the true message of Jesus Christ and how to do it without compromising biblical truth. Jesus was the master story teller using everyday things in life to give thought provoking and life changing spiritual object lessons.
What Jesus did that famous Passover is no joke, He did not shed his blood for no reason; the question is how will we, you and I, present it as relevant for our culture today?
