Hold My Hand

Lizard BuddiesCome My child, come closer, let Me hold you and comfort your distressed heart. My peace I give to you, don’t let circumstances rattle you, I have promised to always be with you in the good and difficult times. There is nothing you can’t handle when you are holding My hand.

Easter’s In The Bible!

FB95IMG951441722821172_resizedI have a headache, too much reading me thinks. I had thought of writing how Easter or Resurrection Sunday fell this year on April 1st, April Fool’s Day, but that what Jesus did on the cross was no joke. I wanted to give perspective of how Easter itself came to be, so I googled “what does Easter mean”, to my surprise the first answer given was “the most important and oldest festival of the Christian Church, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ”; Well, that is not what I expected, I was expecting bunnies, eggs, a pagan fertility goddess, etc. Then I was further surprised to find “Easter” is in the Bible, in the King James version to be exact,  Acts 12:4 “…intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people”, speaking of Peter. I might have thought the word to be in more modern versions, not King James. I looked at a variety of translations including the New King James Version; they all used the word “Passover” instead of Easter; Easter may be found in other translations, just not the ones I looked at. I started looking into the pagan origins of the bunny and other customs associated with Easter but didn’t want to get too far off the topic of Jesus. Jesus is the reason we acknowledge Resurrection Sunday, after all He is the one who died and was resurrected, not the bunny.
When getting into Christ’s death and resurrection Romans 6:3-5 AMP tells us, “…the fact that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? We have therefore been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory and power of the Father, we too might walk habitually in newness of life [abandoning our old ways]. For if we have become one with Him [permanently united] in the likeness of His death, we will also certainly be [one with Him and share fully] in the likeness of His resurrection”. To me it sounds like we have something to celebrate every day, the great hope we have in our new life in Jesus.
Yes, there are pagan influences tied with some Easter traditions; how we observe the day, as with all things, is best covered in prayer and led by the Lord. We need to be careful not to throw the baby out with the dirty bath water. Let’s consider the opportunity we have to share the true message of Jesus Christ and how to do it without compromising biblical truth. Jesus was the master story teller using everyday things in life to give thought provoking and life changing spiritual object lessons.
What Jesus did that famous Passover is no joke, He did not shed his blood for no reason; the question is how will we, you and I, present it as relevant for our culture today?

Strength

Dove and featherMay you find many mini moments in your day where you can rest in the Lord renewing your strength. May burdens and cares become light as feathers; may you mount up with wings like eagles souring above that which tries to weigh you down. May peace wrap around your feet like comfortable tennis shoes giving you supernatural stamina to run and not be weary, to walk and not faint.

No Greater Love

Love Swans - onlineI know that I am loved though I may not always act like it. I am betrothed to my best friend, the King of kings. I am dearly loved by my Father, I lack for nothing, He provides for me well with all good things, yet I don’t always show appreciation. I am in a privileged group but sometimes cast my eyes elsewhere and desire what my Father says is not good for me; those things others, who are my Father’s adversaries, seem to enjoy.  As I take my eyes off Papa I wonder why they are not good, they look appealing. As I scoot closer to the fence to get a better glimpse my foot slips, I cross the line.

I begin to be drawn further in by what my eyes behold, the desire to partake grows; I reason that just this once it won’t hurt me to try this one little thing and then I’ll go back; it’s just on the other side of the fire, I can reach it without getting burned…or so I thought! Those who seemed so caring, who once compelled me to join them, now laugh and sneer at me, their masks came off – my eyes are opened, I see the traps they set about me.

Lured in I’m now trapped by the wrong desires of my flesh that I did not resist or turn away from. My beautiful robes now tattered and soiled, regret fills me as tears of sorrow role down my cheeks. I cry in desperation and fear, despair begins to set in, I long for home not knowing how to return and fearing even if I did I would be rejected, considered unworthy of my Father and Betroths love.

In the dark of night I begin to see a light, I hear a familiar voice, my Betrothed, my Savior, is calling my name. I want to respond but I am ashamed, voices around me say “He won’t want you back when He learns what you’ve done”, so I remain silent. The light grows brighter – the voice stronger, He has found me in the mire, His face full of love and compassion as He looks at me, I weep. The voices flee from His presence; He reaches out His hand, taking mine He lifts me out of the mess I have gotten myself in. He places his robe on me in exchange for my filthy one. I experience complete forgiveness and a grace I’ve never known. Reconciled – I collapse into His loving embrace.

Have I lived an exemplary life since He rescued me? I wish! Yet as the years pass I have known no greater love, our relationship grows more intimate; my desire for my Father’s ways grow deeper. The Lord’s extravagant love for me, and you, makes all other love stories in history pale in comparison, and no other will last for eternity.

This Valentines – who has your heart?

Come to Me

What are you looking for? What’s your desire? What’s your need? You won’t find complete fulfillment looking around you – look up. Look up and set your eyes on Me, I am the only one who can fulfill you. Don’t be afraid of coming to Me, of letting Me inside, of letting Me have your hurts and fears. I will replace them with love, joy, freedom; with more than you can imagine. It’s time to move beyond the past and move into the future.

Invitation to Freedom (d)

23621364_10212631202127447_5913033803280976148_nThe invitation has been given – come. Come to Me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest as you allow Me to carry the heavy burdens you weren’t meant to carry. There is no need to pick up burdens and carry offenses that are not yours, leave them alone, they weigh you down and serve no purpose for you; they rob you of your own peace and joy, let the one responsible for them carry their own and deal (work through) with Me regarding them. Sometimes love means saying no and letting them face their issues being dependent on Me – not you; then you will be free to love, encourage, and support them from a different (higher) perspective as you are not bent over, looking down, under the weight of their problems.

Our Time

Sherry - purple onlineCome and rest in My arms, lay your cares at My feet: be still a while and receive My peace; let all striving cease. Drink long and deep of the Living Water, be refreshed and made new (restored). Tomorrow will come soon enough, don’t be anxious for it, set it aside for now and just be with Me, fully aware of My presence; it’s you and Me time – our time.

Never Quit

rita fall sunsetThose with listening ears continually seeking to hear will hear. Those knocking will have a door opened. Never quit praying for or pursuing what I have laid on your heart or promised you in My word. The faithful shall see My faithfulness in the fullness of time.

Hope

peeking Sun - RitaDo not fear the storms (difficult times), I know the clouds look black and threatening; let My love and peace fill you in turbulent times, and at all times, so you can face the storms of life with strength and power, and soundness of mind – which will allow you to be a beacon of hope and encouragement to others. Some things are lost in the storms while other are brought forth but not seen until the storm is past. Keep your eyes on Me and your hope alive.

Memories

Memories are a special gift from the Lord. They help us know where we came from, keep us grounded and help us gain our bearing. They keep us from having to re-learn every day that fire burns – as well as warms, and what the distance is for each. Without memories we would not have a testimony of how God blessed us or brought us through a testing.

Life’s experiences, good and bad, make up the fabric of who we are today. We may wish to change somethings but then we would be someone else. The Lord purposed our birth order, designed our chromosomes and genes, and planned when we would take our first breath. He thought extensively about us as He knit us together in our mother’s womb.Being perfectly created and living in a perfect world is, well, perfect.  Memories formed in a perfect world are wonderful and bring delight. Yet today we live in a world where sin is found, where not so perfect life experiences leave us with memories of pain, betrayal, the sting of loss, along with feelings of fear, doubt, anger, hopelessness, and brokenness. We become the walking wounded, crippled, and emotionally (if not physically) scarred.

We go through things the Lord never intended for us to endure in a perfect world, nor wants us to carry in the world we currently live in. He invites us to give our burdens to Him and have our minds renewed. We are in a world abounding with negativity, victim mindsets, and get even type attitudes. Romans 12:2 encourages us to not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our mind.
As we bring memories of our hurts, disappointments, and our negative beliefs and feelings about ourselves, others, life, God, etc. to the Lord he gives us revelations, exposes lies Satan has told us; then as we align with God’s truth we come into a new way of thinking, peace replaces pain. The circumstance of what happened does not change, but how it affects us in the present does.
He can graciously bring us to a point of truly forgiving from the heart the wrong actions of others. Forgiving doesn’t mean the perpetrator is getting away with something or that what was done was right; wrong is wrong. However forgiveness releases us from carrying the heavy weight and burden of collecting the debt and turns the collection and judgement over to the Lord. In exchange we receive freedom from the fowlers’ snare that once held us.
In having a new mindset we receive peace of heart and mind; we can then use the precious memories of what the Lord has done to help others who have traveled the same path.
Is bringing our minds to the Lord to be renewed easy – sometimes; is it difficult – sometimes; let’s face it – pain hurts, and we like to avoid it, it’s part of self-preservation. Is it worth it – absolutely!
