I love that the Lord gives us choices, sometimes I think it would be easier if we didn’t have so many, but he wants us to love him by choice not because we have to. There is a quote from Richard Bach “If you love someone, set them free. If they come back they’re yours, if they don’t they never were”.
Mr. Bach’s quote is not exact in our context with the Lord – for we are His creation, yet the Lord has set us free to make our own choices, including loving and serving him or not. Even though His desire is for all of us to come to him, to love and know him on a personal level, he doesn’t force us, yet he gently calls to us…
My child, My child, My child. This is not just another day; it is a new day, a day I have made. Where will you be in it? By my side? Doing your own thing? I desire that you do not miss out on what I am doing. Do not slumber or sleep, be vigilant with eyes and hearts focused on me, that I be your God, the desire of your heart this day, the love of your life. Come draw in, taste and see My goodness, the sweetness of a life surrendered to Me – lived in My presence. Separate from those things that hold you captive, that keep your mind occupied and off of Me. Come away with Me to that secret place, there you will find rest, there you will find Me. Hear My words, My child, see My hand stretched out towards you, place your faith and trust in Me. I am your good heavenly Father; I have good plans for you. I desire that you turn from the corruptible to receive of My eternal riches. Know Me, know My Son, know My ways and My heart for you, as you have never know before. This is a day of victory for lives lived out in Me.
It is an individual choice each of us make, yet our choice influences those around us, Joshua declares in Joshua 24:15 “…as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
A friend of mine, Kathleen, adds – “And as Peter (said), “to whom else can we turn?” Only Jesus. It’s always only Jesus. So help us, strengthen us, be with us. We open our hearts to you. You alone are our certainty.””
As we begin this day – what choice will be made?
